Florida is a beautiful state which gets way too much undeserved crap.

I always hear people talk about how garbage Florida is and talk about it like its hell on earth. Heard it described as the waiting place for old people to go and die. I have spent a few months there over the years and I completely disagree.
This was all pre covid just for the record and written from a tourist perspective who has been there several times throughout the years. I have been lucky enough to visit several cities in Florida and even drove up the coast which was amazing.
Spent time in Miami which has the most beautiful beaches ever (specifically south beach). I literally spent most of the day jumping into the waves and the warm water was amazing. I actually liked the water there better than the Caribbean because it wasnt as salty. Miami is just a beautiful city the way it is designed, the houses near the water, the whole strip of South Beach has such a great vibe.
Also been to Daytona which had great beaches and beautiful weather. There are lots of great fun things to do all over Florida like Disney, Universal studios, theme parks all over. Even stopped at a mini casino and won enough cash for a free dinner.
I took a 7 day cruise out of their to the Caribbean that was very cheap out of Fort Lauderdale I believe. People who live there have so much fun stuff to do. I rented a car and drove all along the coast and it was gorgeous, the scenery was nice and there were tourist stuff to do everywhere. The weather was beautiful pretty much every day I was there.
I always hear people also say how the people in Florida are mean and not friendly. My wife was doing her PhD at university of Central Florida many years back. I went to the university and got a chance to meet people there she knew. All were very friendly. Almost every person I met there was actually very friendly.
We even went to downtown Disney just scrolling around and one person cam up and gave us movie tickets because they had to leave. We thanked them very much and watched a movie. We came out and some other stranger cam up to us and said they had to leave to get a flight and gave us cirque de sala (sp) tickets which we were very surprised but grateful for. The tickets were in the second row ( was an awesome show) and the people who gave us the tickets were very kind and very nice.
The one bad thing about Florida i would say is the extreme weather. There was a hurricane when my wife was there and she had to go to a gym (luckily they were all ok but their was a lot of property damage).
I remember during the housing crisis of 2008 houses were so cheap and I really regret not buying a place there. Still might retire there someday.

Last minute change to the itinerary

I had planned a short trip to go to Cancun with my fiance and we were leaving Wednesday. Work has been really stressful - I began at the start of covid remotely and it's been rough to get adjusted. I haven't really been leaving my apartment much and needed to get away.
So a hurricane hits Cancun the night before we are supposed to fly. Our airline moves our flight a few hours later and says the skies will clear by then. We get to the airport, they push the flight again 4 hours. We are waiting a long time at this point then they cancel our flight.
I was on the phone with expedia trying to get a refund for everything and just overall bummed it was a 3 day trip and we wasted a day at the airport. In hindsight I wish I took more time off, but what can you do? Instead of going home, I saw there was one flight that evening leaving out of Newark to Fort Lauderdale at night, and I just booked it, and then booked a hotel by the beach, we were not going to come back home haha. Spend 8 hours total at the airport, but got to our hotel room by midnight.
Anyhow, we went to the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood last night, I quickly lost $200, and when I asked for a drink, was surprised to know they charge you there (first casino I've been to that does that). I was annoyed, but we had some drinks, went to the cigar lounge, then I came back, sat at a $25 table and everything changed.
I put $200 down and won around 10 hands in a row. I kept progressively increasing my bets, from $25 to $50 to $100. I got string of blackjacks back to back. Heck I started playing the side bets and won a few of those too. I kept giving $100 to my fiance to hold every time I won a hand. He had a nice large roll of $25 chips that he could barely hold in his hands and we cleared out lots of the dealers greens. My finance was holding all of my profit chips to keep me whole and made sure we walked away with at least what we came in with. The pit boss came over noticing so many green chips were missing and was suspicious I came in midshoe on a winning streak, had me color those chips in and began watching closely. I was too exhausted to even try to count the cards given the trip from the night before.
As quickly as I lost the $200 at the first table, I managed to get on a winning streak and finish the shoe walking away with $1,100. It took me around 20 minutes to do it with my increasing bets. I quickly got the heck out of there. It was a blast, I'll share it was sort of nice, and definitely not expected, Glad it'll cover some of the extra cost of making a last minute trip change. These winning streak definitely don't happen often, but they sure feel nice when they do.

I Found a Kilo of Drugs on the beach while looking for Seashells (I can’t make this shit up)

So this past weekend in Florida is a Vacation I’ll never forget.. its like one of those stories you hear on the News where you dream that one day something like this could happen to you. We’ll start On Saturday. The day was lackluster at best, you know those awkward family vacations where you feel out of place especially around your family... to make everything worse, we were in a state where we knew no one and finding some good bud was near impossible. We managed to get 2 fat joints on the Plane, hidden very well of course, but after that it was CBD from then on. It wasn’t the end of the world but, FUCK when you go a week without pot it feels like an eternity. It truly does make everything better especially when your stuck with family for the entire week.
So I had the Idea to rent a Scooter. (I HIGHly Recommend Renting a Scooter while on Vacation in SoFlo.) We cruised all up and down the coast from DeerField Beach all the Way down to the beaches in Fort Lauderdale. On the way, we went down Hillsboro Mile (which is where the story gets Juicy later into the Story) where the entire Mile is Full of Homes that only the 1% can afford. I Loved it, what an experience it was. I know I won’t have that kind of money anytime soon, but hey it definitely got me MOTIVATED!!! As we were Scootin past these homes, I pulled into a Vacant Lot in between 2 Multi Million Dollar homes and drove all the way up to the beach and parked. Man, what a view, It got me thinking, “how often do these beaches get used?” I didn’t see a single person in sight, I knew as of then that I wanted to explore this area of the beach before I leave to go back to the boring Midwest... so we left and continued south until we were in Fort Lauderdale.
We stopped and had Lunch at a small Italian place called Kisses of Italy. I ordered Chicken Parm that wasn’t even on the Menu (Best Chicken Parm Sandwich EVER) and my Gf had a Hotdog Sandwhich (3 Hotdogs on a toasted bun with toppings.) After a great Lunch we went back home to relax after a great Scooter ride.
Scroll forward about 6 hours and we are headed to the Casino because we can’t seem to get her family to do anything other than sit at home.. (were on vacation, so we don’t wanna just stay home) when we arrived at the Casino, we each took out $60 (TIP. Only take out $60, if you lose it GO HOME, if you gain $60 back, pocket it and DONT TOUCH IT, continue to play with your winning, until you either lose what you had profited or are ready to be finished) and headed straight to the Roulette Table. I started with my $60 and it was gone within 10 minutes and she put in $20 and it was gone after 2 minutes. (It was on a Red Streak and I refuse to play Red) We went outside to smoke a CBD Joint and are prepared to lose the rest when we go back inside. So when we go back in (after about 30 minutes) we see that the tables have turned and my LUCKY number 33 has been hit twice as well as a slew of other black numbers. We then put in the last $40 and got up to $200 in a matter of minutes. I think we had a number get hit 5 times in a row with $2-$3 on the number plus $75 on black. Needless to say we made our money back and profited $800 for the night! We left at 12:45am and got to sleep around 2:00am.
We woke up on Sunday at 7:30 to spend our last few hours on Florida on the Beach. (I didn’t wanna get outta bed) After sleeping an entire week on a crappy blow up mattress and having little sleep the night before, my body was telling me to stay in bed. We got to the beach around 8:30 and stayed until 10:00. I made sure we had enough time to go to the Spot I mentioned the day before. So we get home and hop on the scooter and head for Hillsboro Mile. (There is only 1 public entrance to this beach and its at least a 1/2 mile walk in the sand to get to where I wanted to go, so we took the scooter to the very last Condo Building before the Row of Mansions on Hillsboro Beach. All the parking spots were numbered so I just parked in the covered area by a door to get inside. There was only 1 sign that said no Trespassing unless your a resident, and there was a Chain going across 5 posts about 3 feet high. We hopped the Chain and were to the Beach within a minute or 2.
There wasn’t a person to be seen in the area, which is something I have wanted for awhile. Technically all Florida Beaches are Public Property, so we weren’t breaking any major rules. We started walking down the beach toward all the mansions. (I Recommend this walk for anyone that comes to the area. It’s extremely peaceful, just make sure you respect the beach and make it look better than when you got there.) As I got to about the 3rd Mansion I saw an elderly man in the distance and he saw me eagerly looking for Cool Seashells at the beach. When he got close he took off his headphones and told me that he saw a package on the beach a little ways down that had appeared to be drugs of some kind. He didn’t want to have anything to do with it, but seemed like he wanted me to take care of it. So we keep walking another 500 feet or so until we see what the man was talking about. It was a vacuum sealed black bag that was wrapped in multiple layers of plastic to form that of a brick. It had the Sun of Uruguay on the front (the Cartel Logo) it appeared to have been in the Ocean for a very very long time, but also appeared to be sealed still. (Keep in mind our flight leaves at 5:00pm and it’s currently 11:30am) so my GF takes off her shirt and we wrap it in the shirt so it doesn’t look Suspicious and we start walking back to the Scooter. At this point we had already made a video of finding it on the beach and we took a few pictures of it. (At this point No one knew about this except us, the old man was long gone by this point too) we put the brick under the seat of the Scooter and start heading towards her dads house. (Yes we’re just cruising around with a 30k brick in a cheap $500 scooter.)
When we get to the house we pull into the Garage and show them what we found, and they literary Flipped! They kept trying to tell us we were going to get a possession charge or something even worse. They wanted us to go find a trash can and go throw it away. I didn’t agree with how rash they were thinking. (Technically we didn’t do anything wrong, we took the package from the beach so someone else didn’t get their hands on it, and at this point we were pretty set on going to turn it in) So we unwrap it from the shirt and put it on a Walmart bag and bag into the Scooter seat and we start heading to the Police Station.
The Scooter has to be turned in at 12:00, and I didn’t wanna potentially get held for questioning and get a late fee, so we pulled over and call 911, I told them the short version of the story and they send a BCS out to meet up with me and we opened the Seat and he opened the bag and said that’s quite the find!! We told him where we found it and what our intentions were and he was SUPER COOL, we had a few questions about the brick and he answered all of them and talked to us about it. He took our info and asked us about our local college football Teams. All in all it was the Craziest way to end a Vacation.
I’ve been back now for 3 days and can say we are moving to Florida at the end of April. I’m an adventurer at heart and after finding the find of a lifetime it has motivated me to move to Florida to start our Fun Filled Life. I do want to say that I have never done this Product and know nothing about it. I know this could have been the Best/Worst thing that could have happened to me. I have also imagined so many other ways I could have handled it. Either way I’m happy it won’t end up on the Street even though I potentially gave up 30-100k worth of Pure Untouched Product. If you read this entire thing, I want to Thank you and welcome you to the Crazy Life I’m Living in. Follow to stay up to date with when I move and start searching the Beach again. Until then... Peace and Love

Need advice renting a Condo in Miami Gardens, FL

I recently finished renovating a condo so that my mom can retire, rent it, and live off of it. She’s worked very hard all her life and not had much (I mean she’s had the essentials which is a lot more than others), I was hoping she enjoy the last half of her life without having to work hard just to get by.
The issue is the pandemic happened just as I finished and we paused from putting the apartment for rent until we were sure everything that was happening. Unfortunately, we can’t just let the apartment sit there not producing income while still paying maintenance and property taxes. She and I are new to renting other than my mom renting out our previous house when in dire need and having the tenants live there for months’ rent-free while not being able to evict them right away. I was hoping I could get some help/some questions answer.
Property Information
Location: Miami Gardens, FL
2nd floor (top floor) Condo in Senior Neighborhood (Age requirements 55+, no children under 16)
Square feet: 910
2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room, Balcony, 2 front entrances, Personal Parking Space, Dishwasher, Hardwood Floors, View to the surrounding canal.
Community clubhouse and pool, building washers and dryers.
A few minutes from Turnpike, I-95, Palmetto (826), US1, US7, US9, I-75
15-20 minutes from both Miami and Fort Lauderdale airport
15-20 minutes from Sunny Isles, Golden Beach, Haulover Park/Beach. (30 from Miami Beach)
10-25 minutes from malls and casinos including: Aventura Mall, Sawgrass Mall, Bal Harbour Shops, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, and Hard Rock Stadium.
Now the questions I have:
  1. Should I use Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, Craigslist, Cozy, Zumper, Hotpads, Facebook’s Marketplace, Oodle, Rentals.com, Apartments.com, Rent.com, TurboTenant? Why? Why not?
  2. Should I get a realtor or should we just try our luck on these websites?
  3. What information above should I out in the listing? What should I remove?
  4. What laws should we be aware of as landlords? Or someone putting something up for rent? (I don’t mind reading so a simple link or name, I can do the research)
  5. What inspections should we have done before renting?
  6. What forms should the applicants fill out?
  7. What forms should the renters fill out? (once rented)
  8. Should we wait longer to rent while the pandemic is still in an unpredictable state?
  9. Are there any protections as landlords while the pandemic is active?
My mom just doesn’t want to go through the situation she did before and was hoping for a smoother process/outcome.
Any other information is appreciated.
Thank you in advance for all the help.

Red Roof Inn offering free lodging for HCW/ first responders

https://www.redroof.com/deals/national-deals/room-in-your-heart
I thought this information could help those who want to use protective distancing from their loved ones.
stay safe! ❤️
Room in Your Heart: Opening Doors to First Responders
Red Roof®, the leader in upscale economy lodging, is giving back to our country’s first responders—dedicated nurses, doctors, firefighters, police and emergency medical providers—who are fighting tirelessly to combat COVID-19. Many of these essential workers on the frontlines need a place to self-quarantine away from their homes and families to protect their loved ones.
From April 3 – May 31, Red Roof is donating a limited number of available rooms to these brave heroes, giving them a place to sleep and stay in between shifts at participating locations across the country.
Many Red Roof locations are exterior corridor hotels where separate hotel room doors open to the outside of the building instead of an interior hallway. After check-in, guests can drive to their room instead of walking through the building, reducing contact with interior touchpoints. Rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, a workstation and a communication package that includes free local and long-distance calls as well as free in-room coffee (in most rooms). One well-behaved domestic pet—cat or dog—is always welcome to stay at no charge.
Call a participating hotel directly to book your stay.

Need help planning a bachelor party (10/17-10/21/13) for my best friend. Looking to go nuts. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

We plan on flying in on the night of 10/17 and departing on the afternoon of 10/21. There's going to be 10-12 of us and right now we're looking at just renting a house or something. All of us are basically looking to go ape shit (in a respectful manner to your city of course!). What's your recommendations?
Nightlife - we're looking to go full retard at night. South Beach we've heard all about, any particular must-see bars/places there? Anywhere else that is awesome but not highly publicized like South Beach? Everyone seems to think Scarlett's and Tootsie's are the go-to strip clubs from what I've seen.
Daytime - beach obviously. What else is there to do? I've seen suggestions on here of renting a boat for a day, how expensive does that get? Good day drinking spots, pools, sight seeing, surfing, outdoor activities, etc?
Anything else you guys would recommend a dozen 25 year old dudes go out and do? We're open to just about everything.
Any input is very much appreciated. Thanks!!

Possible locations for new Panthers stadium?

DISCLAIMER: Despite the BB&T Center being a 20 year old stadium, it has held up exceptionally well both functionally and aesthetically, and I am not at all implying that the Panthers should be looking for a new place to call home anytime soon. I, for one, love its dated mid-90s vibe and appreciate that it remains a trademark of the BB&T Center's identity.
Someday, it will be time for the Broward County Civic Arena to meet its fate by the merciless force of the wrecking ball. When that time comes, where would be the best place in South Florida for the Florida Panthers to call home?
I've thought of a few good spots:
What do you guys think?

If you want protest Donald Trump then hit him where it counts- in his wallet.

Donald Trump doesn't give a shit if people are protesting his election out in the streets. However, Donald Trump REALLY gives a shit about his net-worth, so here's a list of every active business Donald Trump owns. If you or your business has an affiliation and/or partnership with any of these businesses then cut all financial ties.
Nothing would hurt him more then being helpless to watch from the White House while his name-brand empire crumble...

So you're coming to visit, huh?

Lately we've been having a somewhat large amount of people posting in here asking about the area, and etc. So I figured I'd make something like this.
On Traveling
The BB&T Center is located in Sunrise, FL (my hometown, nbd) the closest airport to fly into would be FLL or Fort Lauderdale International. From FLL to Sunrise is about 15-30 minutes depending on how much traffic you hit. Flying into Miami International will yield different results, it's roughly 45-1hr on the turnpike. I've seen someone ask about biking once, not feasible at all.
On parking
Don't pay for it if you're going to the game, don't dooooooo it. 99% of us here and anyone who goes to Panther games would advise you to just park at Sawgrass Mills Mall/Giant parking lot, literally right across the street from the BB&T, like, literally right across the street. Unless your ticket came with a parking pass or something and you would like to use it like a big shot.
On the area
Well the previously mentioned Sawgrass Mills Mall is pretty dope. I believe it's the largest mall in the state, but I could be wrong. It has a movie theater, loads of shopping and restaurants. There's a Gameworks place, a Billiards bar, and most importantly a Barbie Dreamhouse. Not too far from Sunrise is Flamingo Gardens which is a wildlife sanctuary, and as most anyone growing up in the area can tell you it's pretty cool, cause they have probably done service hours there. I know I have.
If you're staying in Ft. Lauderdale than you're living it up. Not too far from Sunrise, not too far from Miami if you want to make the trip, also Ft. Lauderdale has plenty to do, there's Las Olas Boulevard, the Museum of Science and Discovery, Seminole Hard Rock Casino. You're close to the beach, the night life is good, there's more restaurants and bars than I can probably count. And Lauderdale-by-the-sea is dope. It's a good time.
On Hockey
The most important part. If you're a visiting fan, no one will bother you unless you're a dick, or unless someone is a drunk asshole and they bother you. Both chances are small. If you want to wear a jersey from a team not playing go ahead, I've seen it loads of times. And most importantly have fun!
That's all just a pretty quick put together guide of the area. If people got more stuff to add or if I missed something or my info was incorrect go right on ahead and comment!
